Training:
To successfully address conflict, disputes, bullying, anger etc. there are a number of key skills all of us frequently practice and, in some cases, can further develop when dealing with challenges that involve others. Whether these challenges arise in the workplace, community or at home many of the skills needed are the same, and training can be delivered to individuals or groups. Training provided includes:
- Anger Management Skills (also known as Conflict Coaching)
- Principled Negotiation
- Dealing with Difficult People (can be applied to customer service situations)
- Bullying Awareness (including Cyberbullying)
- Conflict in the Workplace
Facilitation:
Oftentimes in group settings there can be a need for Independent Facilitation in particular where issues may be contentious or emotionally driven. Over the last few years I have worked with the Gardai, Tusla, community groups and practiced Restorative Justice Conferencing where issues affecting several individual interests and concerns require care and sensitivity.
Group Facilitation: I have facilitated many groups looking to agree a course of action and overcome problems where there is no dispute, or a ‘live’ dispute is ongoing or in some cases following a dispute. Through meeting with those concerned, establishing ground-rules and using proven negotiating techniques, evidence of progress can always be achieved. In addition to other qualifications I have been awarded certification Advanced Facilitation Practice (Meitheal).
Restorative Justice Conferencing: Restorative Justice aims to help overcome past issues and incidents of conflict including situations where an offence has been committed for all those affected. Restorative Justice is an evidence based approach that is proven to reduce reoccurences. Restorative Justice Conferencing is a process that, with the consent of all parties involved, gathers those affected directly and indirectly to hear each others perspectives, how they have been affected and what each needs to happen in order to move on. Restorative Justice Conferencing enables this to happen through a protective framework that is designed to demonstrate the impact offences can have on individuals, families and communities, capture the learning and ensure accountability appropriate to the offence itself. Restorative Justice Conferencing is often recommended in most person-to-person crimes even those where violence exists, following bullying or harassment, vandalism, theft etc. This is also the case where responsibility for the offence has not been accepted. Each offence or incident are assessed to ensure that any injured party(s) are not re-victimised. Further to my other qualifications I have received certification in Restorative Practice Conferencing through the International Institute of Restorative Practice (IIRP).
